DVD REVIEW: Pro Wrestling Superstars SLAM BAM - Episode #2
As with the first of the 3 DVD set, DVD #2 kicks off with Aaron Weiss, who sets the scene for what lies ahead. Nice intro, and a preview of what's to come.
We start over at Border City Wrestling, with some BCW Tag Team Team action to kick things off, with the former champions Dux and El Tornado seeking the gold once more against Hacker and Gutter. Nice match, with a good blend of technical ability combined with high-flying moves. A few spots in there, but all served a purpose, and add to the match.
Kevin Steen, El Generico and Pierre Carl Oulette are up next in a triple threat match. I've heard nothing but good things about El Generico, and watching him was a joy, and this DVD makes me want to see more. Oulette worked well throughout as well, and as the slower, bigger man in the match, really looked good. Great finish to the match, which I'd really prefer not to give away on a review and let you see for yourselves when you buy the DVD. Good match.
Back to BCW, with D'Lo Brown returning to a PWS DVD to face Sinn. TNA's Tracy Brooks and OVW's Angel Williams are also involved at ringside, and get into a catfight towards the end of the bout. Sinn's got a great look, and his stuff in the ring is great to watch too. Another solid match, with D'Lo on top for the majority, hitting his trademark spots etc, but Sinn really helps to make the match flow.
We take a trip from BCW to USA Pro Wrestling, with Bam Bam Bigelow defending his USA Pro Title in a No DQ match against Balls Mahoney. Given that this review is being written just four days after ECW One Night Stand, this match seemed even more enjoyable, as I review it while STILL listening to Enter Sandman, which has been on a loop at Wrestlemag HQ all week long! The match is exactly what you'd expect, with plenty of TLC type action and the usual brawls you'd look for in a brutal No DQ match. Those expecting a technical master class will be disappointed, but would you really go into this match looking for that??
We stay with the USA Pro promotion for AJ Styles vs Amazing Red to wrap things up. Great little match with plenty of action. Red hits all his flip-flop highspots, while being involved in some nice chain wrestling inbetween. Styles looks as good as ever too. A nice match to end another good DVD.
The DVD ends in a similar fashion to the first in the set, with Hacksaw Jim Duggan giving his thoughts and opinions, as well as commenting on Sinn, D'Lo Brown and more.
Overall, another very good DVD. Video quality was again very good, and the whole package makes for very enjoyable viewing.
